Hiding and Showing LockThis! Tray Icon

Since version 1.2, LockThis! has the feature to hide its icon from Windows tray area. When LockThis! tray icon is hidden you can not access the following important functionalities.

  • Activating/deactivating LockThis! protection
  • Close LockThis!
  • Open admin panel

Hiding LockThis! tray icon improves the security, because when it's hidden it will be hard for others to detect running instance of LockThis!. Not only that, even if someone know that you are using LockThis! protection it will be more difficult for that one to try to disable the protection, since now the Deactivate! and the Quit! menu item are gone (i.e. hidden).

Hide LockThis! Tray Icon

To hide LockThis! tray icon, you can do one of the following steps.

  1. Right click on LockThis! tray icon, then click menu item Hide!

Of course there is a way to show hidden LockThis! tray icon. Otherwise you can not access or execute the above important functionalities. To show hidden LockThis! tray icon you need to execute predefined shortcut keys combination. By default the shortcut key combination is Ctrl+Alt+O. This means that you have to press these three buttons at the same time to show LockThis! tray icon. For more security, it is strongly suggested that you immediately change this shortcut keys into the combination that only you would know.

The shortcut keys are working as a toggle key. Means that whenever you press the shortcut keys the tray icon will be change state from whatever state it currently is. When it is shown, pressing the shortcut keys will make it invisible. If it is hidden, pressing the shortcut keys will make it visible.

Change the Shortcut Keys

To change you hide/show LockThis! tray icon shortcut keys you need to access Admin Panel. Please do the following steps to change your shortcut keys.

  1. Open Admin Panel
  2. Click in the text box titled Shortcut key to Hide/Show LockThis! Tray Icon

  3. On you keyboard, press your wanted shortcut keys combination at the same time. Make sure that your keys combination is shown properly in the text box.
  4. Click OK button to save the modification and close Admin Panel.

Congratulations, now you have different shortcut keys that LockThis!'s default!
